An famous horror thriller from the mid-2000s has been silenced by Sinners after yet another successful weekend at the box office. During its sixth weekend in theaters, Ryan Coogler's vampire masterpiece brought in an additional $8.7 million, bringing its domestic total to $256 million.  For a total of $336 million worldwide, it has also contributed $80 million in foreign markets.

Sinners surpasses I Am legend, the 2007 post-apocalyptic thriller starring Will Smith, with this new domestic total, making it one of Warner Bros. 30's highest grossing films ever.  But I Am legend made more than $200 million more than Sinners, earning $329 million abroad for a total of $585 million.  Smith will collaborate with Michael B. Jordan, actor of Sinners, on an upcoming I Am legend sequel.

After more than a month in theaters, Sinners is finally coming to an end of an extraordinary run of box office success.  Although the movie's opening domestic box office total of $48 million was sufficient to overcome A Minecraft movie, its most noteworthy accomplishment occurred during its second weekend of release.  Sinners made $45 million at the box office after dropping an incredible 5% during its second weekend in theaters.

Every other movie in the top ten ranged from 45% to 70%.  The second Marvel film of 2025 after Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, eventually overtook Coogler's historical drama at the box office during its third weekend in theaters.  After that, it remained in second place for another weekend, but for the weekend of May 16, it dropped to third place behind Final Destination Bloodlines.
