The film begins with a culturally relevant scene: Nithya Menen visiting a temple to tonsure her baby's head. It is set against the rustic backdrop of a village close to Madurai.  Vijay Sethupathi, who plays the child's father, shows up at the scene, clearly upset over not knowing about this important ceremony.  This encounter serves as the starting point for a flashback that charts the development of their relationship, which was once characterized by warmth and closeness but has since broken down as a result of interference from family members and outside social forces.

In rural family plays, pandiraj showcases his signature storytelling prowess.  Though grounded by intense emotions and personal turmoil, Thalaivan Thalaivii has the aesthetics of a celebratory entertainer.  The baby's half-tonsured skull in the intermission scene is a particularly noteworthy moment. Although it may seem humorous at first glance, it has significant emotional significance.  The film's central theme—the intricacy of relationships stressed by tradition and ego—never fades.

Vijay Sethupathi is back in a character that seems to be a perfect fit for him.  Audiences are reminded of his ability to represent regular men with remarkable emotional depth by his nuanced, lived-in performance.  Despite not inventing anything, Nithya Menen consistently produces work that has emotional resonance.  They handle their chemistry and conflicts with sensitive maturity.

Another significant strength is the supporting cast.  Particularly in his combative sequences with Vijay Sethupathi, RK suresh gives his adversarial part a lot of intensity.  Mynaa, Roshini Haripriyan, Saravanan, and Chemban Vinod Jose all give sincere performances that enhance the rural ecosystem.  As a robber, yogi babu adds humor to a number of pivotal scenes without feeling out of place.

The story is enhanced by the music of Santhosh Narayanan, who worked with pandiraj for the first time.  Every time it plays, the memorable song Pottala Muttaaye uplifts the mood in theaters.  Additionally, the background music heightens the emotional impact of key scenes.

The first half has a relaxed rhythm and strikes a mix between humor and drama.  After the break, the movie refocuses on settling the main issue, which causes the pacing to momentarily stutter.  But pandiraj swiftly turns it around with a sincere, realistic conclusion that has a profound effect.  Remarkably, even the closing titles are designed to keep viewers interested until the very end.

Overall, pandiraj delivers a clean family entertainer that's funny and heartfelt
