In a significant boost to the 'Make in India' initiative, OnePlus has partnered with Bhagwati Products Ltd (BPL) to manufacture premium tablets in India. This collaboration underscores OnePlus' commitment to enhancing local production and aligns with its long-term vision for the indian market, particularly through its recent 'Project Starlight' initiative aimed at increasing local integration.


According to a statement from OnePlus, the company is expanding its local manufacturing capabilities beyond smartphones to include tablet production at BPL’s facility in Greater Noida. Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus india, emphasized that localizing tablet manufacturing reinforces the brand's dedication to the indian market while providing value to its user community. Liu stated, "This partnership reflects our long-term vision to innovate for india, invest in india, and grow with India."


This collaboration also supports prime minister Narendra Modi's ambition to establish india as a global technology hub, enhancing the country's competitiveness in the international arena. india, alongside china and Vietnam, is emerging as a key player in global electronics manufacturing as companies look to diversify their supply chains.


Vikas Jain, Co-Founder of BPL, remarked on the significance of this milestone, noting it not only expands their customer portfolio but also introduces a new manufacturing capability at their Greater noida facility.


India's mobile manufacturing landscape has transformed dramatically, with the number of units rising to 300 from just two in 2014. government data indicates that locally manufactured mobile phones have surged from 26% in FY14 to an impressive 99.2% today. OnePlus' key tablet offerings for this year, the OnePlus Pad 3 and OnePlus Pad Lite, are being produced in india through its partnership with BPL.
