CHENNAI, march 4, 2026tamil Nadu chief minister M. K. Stalin inaugurated the newly constructed “Muthamizh Arignar Kalaignar Arangam” on wednesday at the historic State college campus in Chennai, a significant development aimed at enriching the college’s academic and cultural infrastructure. The auditorium was built at a cost of 63 crore under the Higher education Department’s initiative to strengthen facilities for campus activities.

A Landmark Facility for students and Events

The Muthamizh Arignar Kalaignar Arangam is expected to serve as a key venue for important college functions, seminars, cultural performances, and academic events. This modern auditorium adds substantially to the institution’s capacity to host large gatherings and will help promote student engagement in co‑curricular activities.

Distribution of Laptops Under “Ulagam Ungal Kaiyil” Scheme

During the event, chief minister stalin also distributed laptops to students of State college as part of the government’s “Ulagam Ungal Kaiyil” (The World in Your Hands) education ECOSYSTEM' target='_blank' title='digital education-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital education initiative. This program, launched by the tamil Nadu government, aims to equip college students with personal computing devices to enhance access to wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital learning resources and educational opportunities. The scheme is a part of broader efforts to prepare students for the evolving demands of the modern knowledge economy.

New Hostel for Differently‑Abled Students

In a further step toward inclusive infrastructure, stalin inaugurated a newly built hostel facility on the college campus designed for students with disabilities. This new residence is expected to improve accessibility and provide a supportive living environment for differently‑abled students, reflecting the state’s focus on inclusive education.
