Medical students in coimbatore have been staging a sit-in protest for the 2nd day in a row over the delay in providing surgery to patients due to the impact of not consulting postgraduate medical studies at the coimbatore government Hospital.

Postgraduate medical students are working simultaneously to handle the patients in government medical college hospitals as they are trained. Thus compensating for the shortage of physicians. In this situation, the first-year students did not come until december this year, the second and third-year students have already been pressurized with increased workload and stress. Therefore, there is a need to immediately conduct first-year student counseling for postgraduate medical studies.

Following this, senior medical students working as doctors in hospitals including Chennai, Madurai, Salem, and coimbatore have been engaged in a struggle demanding immediate counseling.

As part of this, a sit-in protest is being held for the second day today at the coimbatore government Hospital premises. Medical students said that we fight not only for ourselves but also for patients. Also, surgeries are delayed due to a lack of manpower. Patients are also reported to be suffering from this.

As medical students reported, we are under a lot of workload and stress. There are only 250 of us whereas there should be more than 350.

Similarly, the surgery is delayed due to a lack of proper personnel. We suffer too. Therefore, they have stated that they will ignore all treatment, including emergency treatment if a solution to our struggle is not found by the 10thdec.
