Mercury level dipped in the national capital...
While a cold wave swept the northern plains, Safdarjung, the city's representative weather station, recorded a minimum temperature of 1.4°C, the lowest minimum this season, as northwesterly winds dropped the mercury by 1-2°C in most spots in delhi on Monday. A day after the mercury there fell to 4.7°C on sunday, the station recorded its coldest day (1.1°C), marking the lowest temperature since january 1, 2021.
Despite a substantial drop in nighttime temperatures, an averagely warm day of 18°C was predicted. On sunday and Saturday, Delhi's highs were 17.8°C and 18.4°C, respectively.
On monday morning, northwesterly winds kept the air quality in the poor range. The minimum temperature in delhi, at Safdarjung, is expected to be approximately 2°C, according to the india Meteorological Department (IMD), who also predicted that the cold wave will last till Wednesday.
Because of the city's excellent daytime sunshine and lack of fog, according to IMD scientist rk Jenamani, the days are currently not as chilly. "We only experience a coldwave at night and in the morning."
By Tuesday, Delhi's AQI was probably going to be quite poor. An AQI of 0 to 50 is regarded as acceptable, 101 to 200 as satisfactory, 201 to 300 as bad, 301 to 400 as extremely poor, and over 400 as severe.
