Whenever the matter of pollution arises in the country or the issue of poisoning of the wind is raised, everyone remembers Delhi-NCR. Now the central government itself has told us in which cities the maximum pollution in the country is. 

You will be surprised to know that there are 131 cities in the country, where breathing is equivalent to swallowing poison. Most of these cities are from maharashtra, while the second number comes from Uttar Pradesh and then Andhra Pradesh. The government has also told us which 19 cities are the most polluted cities.

The government has given information in Lok Sabha

In fact, an mp from the central government asked about the pollution situation in the Lok Sabha. This question was answered by Union Environment minister Bhupendra Yadav on 13 February. He said that the pollution situation in 131 cities of 24 states of the country is very bad. Of these, there are 19 cities in which the situation is the worst. According to Yadav, AQI is constantly being monitored by keeping these cities under the National Clean air Program. The government has set a target to reduce pollution in these cities by 40 per cent by the year 2025-26. This target has been fixed under the National Ambient air Quality Standards (NAAQs).
