The number of new cases recorded in the previous 24 hours is around 10,000 lower than the number of samples that tested positive on Monday, when there were 39,361 new cases, accounting for 1.31 percent of active cases.
In the past 24 hours, the virus claimed the lives of 415 people, while 42,363 people were freed from hospitals. This brought the total number of fatalities to 4,21,382 and the total number of recoveries to 3,06,21,469. On Monday, there were 35,968 discharges and 416 deaths, respectively.
In the past 24 hours, 17,20,100 samples were tested for coronavirus, bringing the total number of samples examined to 45,91,64,121, according to the indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). During the day, 66 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine were provided, bringing the total number of inoculations to 44.19 crores as part of the countrywide immunisation push.
Since the start of the third phase of the vaccination programme, more than 14 lakh beneficiaries in the age range 18-44 years have received their first dose and more than 65 lakh have received their second dose across states and UTs.
