The fight for rights between the Lieutenant governor and the aam aadmi party government has dealt a big blow to the liquor lovers of Delhi-NCR. The proposal to make liquor and beer cheaper in delhi was with the Lieutenant governor of delhi, Anil Baijal, but he did not approve it. At the same time, with the new Lieutenant governor of delhi Vinay Kumar Saxena taking over, he is at odds with the delhi government. In such a situation, it does not seem that approval will be given to get liquor and beer cheaper than water in delhi recently.

Up to 98% discount was to be available on wine and beer from june 1

Let us inform here that according to the proposal of the ruling aam aadmi party in delhi, it is proposed to increase the scope of exemption up to 25 percent on the maximum retail price (MRP) on the sale of liquor. If the Lieutenant governor approves this proposal, then both beer and foreign liquor will become cheaper in Delhi.

Let us inform here that for the financial year 2022-23, the delhi government is going to announce the excise policy. It is also proposed to remove the prescribed exemption limit. In this offer, vendors will be able to sell liquor at a discount in their prices. The new policy was to come into force from june 1, in which many other changes were also to be made, but the matter has been hanged due to lack of approval of the Lieutenant Governor.

Shock case due to non-receipt of Lt. Governor's approval

The cabinet has approved the proposed policy for the current financial year 2022-23. It will be implemented after getting the approval of the Lieutenant Governor. It is being told that after the approval of Lieutenant governor Vinay Kumar Saxena, the Excise Department will remove the limit of 25 percent discount. After this, liquor and beer will be available up to 98 percent cheaper in Delhi.

Delhi government agrees

The committee formed by the delhi government has also agreed that the scope of exemption will be increased. Vinod Giri, director of Federation of indian Alcoholic Beverage Company, has said that the delhi government has agreed on all our main issues. Along with removing the compulsion to open three shops in the ward, it is ready to remove the prescribed limit of giving discount on the prices of liquor. It is expected that soon the vendors will be able to give discount in the prices according to their own.

Let us inform here that earlier on 28 february, the Excise Department had withdrawn the exemption given on the sale of liquor in early february due to violation of the guidelines of delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) related to Corona. At that time liquor shopkeepers started giving up to 50 percent discount on foreign liquor and IMFL also. In the new excise policy for the year 2022-23, a provision has been made to give unlimited discount on the sale of liquor.
