The representation of the folk art form "Veeragase" in the well-known kannada actor Dhananjaya's film "Head Bush" has caused controversy. The Karaga Utsava Samithi, Veeragase folk dancers, Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), and the Bajrang Dal have protested the representation of Veeragase and Karaga Utsava, the oldest and most well-known annual festival celebrated in Bengaluru, in the movie, which is based on the book Dadagiriya Dinagalu (My days in the underworld) by Agni sridhar about the underworld in Bengaluru

Workers from the VHP and Bajrang Dal have reported the movie to the Hiriyur Town police station in the Chitradurga district, alleging that Dhananjaya had offended the religious feelings of the Hindu community. In the event that the Veeragase folk dance has truly been disrespected, sunil Kumar, the minister of kannada and culture and the Energy Department of karnataka, has requested the filmmakers to modify the film.

"There is a discussion on social media about how the movie Head Bush insults Veeragase dance. The proud traditional heritage of karnataka is Veeragase. It is our collective responsibility to prevent any kind of entertainment, including movies, from demeaning folk culture. The makers and directors of Head Bush should reconsider whether Veeragase is insulted in the film." wrote Suniljumar
