For the action drama series Rana Naidu, which debuted on Netflix on march 9th, venkatesh and Rana collaborated. On social media, reactions to the series have been very mixed. But a common criticism of venkatesh is that he performed a role that was too obviously harsh and rough for him. There is a complaint that Rana Naidu uses entirely too many expletives and adult stuff. Yet, it should be noted that the same audience that Rana Naidu is receiving criticism from currently tends to enjoy Mirzapur, which also features an adult-oriented presentation and an abundance of profanity that is interwoven throughout the story.

The audience doesn't mind if the same director, karan Anshuman, uses a lot of adult language and material in his film Mirzapur. But, they have issue with venkatesh doing something comparable. The logical answer is that Venkatesh's impeccable reputation prevents telugu people, who make up the majority of the show's target audience, from viewing it objectively. They are unable to comprehend venky in such an unfiltered and daring position.

Since venky is a family hero in this story, perhaps the telugu audience didn't anticipate him to use so many profanities, yet they are unavoidably included in the plot. Because the audience is used to seeing Rana in such a role, no one objected to him performing as many adult sequences and using profanity in the same act. Yet, when venky became involved with an adult series like this, the focus shifted. The same would have been true if any senior telugu celebrity had taken up the role. For telugu people, this is a little bit unrealistic and alienating.

As for instance, arjun reddy featured vijay deverakonda in the starring part and considering that he wasn't a too well-known face back then, there wasn't too much clamour about the material. If a family hero like nani had made the movie, he would have come under fire. Netflix also failed to adequately prepare its audience for what was to come. The G word in the trailer was the only clue. The abrupt introduction of the explicit content throughout the entire series has shocked viewers. This might further harm Netflix's chances in the telugu states, where they already struggle to attract loyal domestic subscribers.
