RRR wrote Oscars history when Naatu Naatu took home the prize for best original song at the incredibly prestigious ceremony. To get to the point, it was reportedly requested by The Academy that ram charan and Jr. ntr sing Naatu Naatu live on the oscar stage. A month before the gala event, in February, the conversations took place. 

Raj Kapoor, who works closely with the Academy Awards, claimed that Charan and tarak turned down the offer to perform for Naatu Naatu live on stage because of their other professional obligations and the lack of time to practise this demanding and difficult dance performance. A group of professional dancers from Los Angeles later revamped and performed Naatu Naatu. To prepare for the intense dance sequence they practised hard for 18 hours.

Naatu Naatu would have been far more interesting if Charan and tarak had performed a live dance routine on stage. But, they were unable to take any chances because of the limitations and the song's complexity and intensity. However, there are also talks going on that due to the ongoing fan wars and ego clash both of them decided to refrain from the stage performance which could have been even better.
