He freely acknowledged SS rajamouli for creating the ground-breaking film Baahubali, which broke through racial and linguistic barriers and raised the bar for south indian cinema. mani ratnam began PS 1 & PS 2 after watching Rajamouli's Baahubali.

Mani Ratnam, a brilliant and unconventional filmmaker, was unable to duplicate the magic rajamouli produced in indian cinema. However, compared to the fictional Baahubali saga, the story of ponniyin selvan is more bigger and more important.
