One of 2022's biggest hits, The kashmir Files, demonstrated the power of word-of-mouth marketing on box office receipts. The film, which had a production budget of about Rs 20 crores, became a hit and brought in more than Rs 250 crore at the box office.

While many people praised the movie's perspective on the genocide in kashmir, others referred to it as propaganda. Despite the controversy, the movie did well at the box office and was predicted to win numerous accolades. This did not occur, and the movie received no awards at the recently held Filmfare Awards. The movie was nominated for awards in various categories, including best film, but it didn't come out on top.
