The deleted scene from Batman not only gives us a clearer look at Barry Keoghan's joker, but it also lays up the Joker's flawless Arkham escape plan. The Batman not only has four main Batman villains, one of them is Catwoman, who plays an anti-hero, but it also introduces a brand-new Joker. While Batman's most iconic adversary appeared in a brief scene with the Riddler in the final cut of the film, Matt Reeves had filmed a bigger and more revealing scene with the character.

In a deleted scene that has been released as part of a marketing campaign, Batman visits the joker, who is imprisoned in Arkham, in order to learn more about the Riddler's methods. In a scene reminiscent of The Silence of the Lambs, Batman believes that the Joker's profile and that of the serial murderer operating in Gotham are identical, despite the fact that it is never revealed what crimes this version of the joker committed before being apprehended. The joker says a few things about the Riddler's case, but it's Batman who gets the most attention. This is why the scene was cut, because the joker ended up spelling out the lesson Bruce should only understand towards the end of the film.
