October saw the release of 28 movies in total, including those that were dubs. The dubbed movies performed better than the uncut ones in this category. The dubbed movies are this month's two biggest hits. Godfather, The Ghost, and Sathimutyam were released as dasara specials during the first week of October. The Ghost of nagarjuna was one of these films that was immediately labelled a failure. The Godfather, a remake that received some favourable reviews at first, later saw its box office numbers fall short of expectations. The third movie, swathi Muthyam, had neither poor content nor strong box office performance. By Diwali, this movie was available on demand without much of a theatrical wait.

The second week saw the release of roughly 10 movies. Kantara was the sole hit movie of the period. The movie might build on the buzz its original kannada version generated in Karnataka. All other movies fell flat at the box office as a result of this. These included movies like Ninne Pelladatha, in which Rakul's brother starred. The reissues were Adavi and Rebel.

The effect of dubbed movies persisted until the third week. The movies Ori Devuda, Ginna, Prince, and Sardar were released as a special for Diwali. Sardar of karthi excelled in these. To some extent, Ori Devuda is alright. Ginna and prince were unable to make a difference at the box office. The movies Rudraveena, Tihar College, and Anukoni Prayanam were released in the previous week, although none had an impact. So, at the end of the month, only Kantara and Sardar were considered hits.
