Iqbal, a statistical inspector of the taluk office, who demanded a bribe of 12,000 to issue a death certificate, fell into the Lokayukta trap. The husband of Taj, a resident of Adishakti nagar in Chikkamagaluru city, died on July 7. He requested the statistical inspector of the taluk office to issue his death certificate.
After noticing the petition, Statistical Officer Iqbal Taj called him to the office and told him that it will cost 12 thousand to issue the death certificate, so give all the documents of his husband. When Taj asked why so much money sir, we don't do that here. He said that it should be done in court, otherwise, it will be rejected. Taj complained to the Lokayukta police because he did not want to pay the bribe. The Lokayukta police asked him to record his voice asking for money. Accordingly, when Taj came back to Iqbal's office and asked for the death certificate, he called a boy named jeevan who works in the office, and told him to get all the documents of her husband and 12 thousand money from him. Then Taj asked me to reduce this amount of money, sir. It doesn't even have a life, it has to be made by the court. He said that it will cost so much money.
Taj recorded the entire conversation and handed it over to the Lokayukta police. After receiving a written complaint from the woman, the Lokayukta police caught her demanding a bribe of Rs 12,000 and taking Rs 5,000 in advance to issue the death certificate. The Lokayukta police registered a case and produced the two before the court.
