Yoga teacher becomes victim of fraud on 'dating app'…

A man allegedly defrauded a 46-year-old yoga teacher of Rs 3.36 lakh in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The woman had come in contact with the man through a 'dating app'. police gave this information. An official said on wednesday that amit Kumar had claimed to the woman that he is a doctor by profession and lives in Manchester, England.

The accused cheated the woman like this

He told that the woman, resident of Churchgate area of South Mumbai, had started a conversation with the man on the dating app 'Tinder'. The officer said that on april 25, the man told the woman that he had sent a gift. A few days later, a woman called the victim and said that she worked in a courier company in delhi and a gift had come for her from Manchester.

The officer said that the woman demanded money from the victim to complete some formalities related to receiving the gift. After which the victim deposited Rs 3.36 lakh in various accounts. Later the woman realized that she had been cheated, after which she lodged a complaint at the police station on Tuesday.

The officer said that on the basis of the complaint, a case has been registered against the accused amit Kumar and the woman who made the call under relevant provisions of the indian Penal Code and the Information technology Act. He said that this matter is being investigated. It should be known that as technology is increasing, cyber crime is also gradually increasing in the country and the world. Every day people are becoming victims of fraud in some way or the other.
