This has now been confirmed by the makers of 'Kannappa' themselves. The production house of the film has posted on social media that the police are investigating the matter and they are not going to be scared of such cowardly acts.
Kannappa's' production house 24 Frame Factory has shared a long post on X. In this, they have written- 'A hard drive containing an important action sequence and important VFX work between the two lead characters of Kannappa was stolen during transit. The drive was sent from Hive Studio, Mumbai, and was to be delivered to our official production office.

Intercepted and signed by a person named Shri Raghu, who acted under the instructions of a woman named Charita. None of them are employees, representatives, or associates of 24 Frames Factory. Their act is theft. A formal complaint was lodged with the police about four weeks ago and the investigating officers have been given full information about the identity of the people behind this.'
