Introduction
Major mohit sharma was one of the most valiant officers of the indian Army’s 1 Para (Special Forces).
Known for his intelligence, courage, and undercover skills, he played a crucial role in India’s anti-terror operations.
His story is now being brought to the big screen in the film “Dhurandhar”, starring Ranveer Singh.
Undercover Operation & Infiltration
In 2004, Major Mohit infiltrated the Hizbul Mujahideen under the alias “Iftikhar Bhat”.
Adopted a long beard, Kashmiri accent, and a fabricated backstory to gain trust.
Gathered key intelligence on networks, weapons dumps, and strategy plans.
Even reached Pakistan-occupied territory, staying among terrorists to collect critical information.
When suspicion arose, he turned the situation in his favor and eliminated two dangerous terrorists.
Kupwara Operation & Martyrdom (2009)
In Kupwara, North Kashmir, terrorists ambushed an indian team in dense forest.
Despite heavy firing, Major Mohit rescued two injured soldiers.
Though wounded in the chest, he continued the fight and eliminated four terrorists.
He attained martyrdom during this heroic action.
A Man of Many Talents
Born in Rohtak, with roots in Meerut district.
Excelled at nda and IMA; known as “Mike” within the forces.
Talented musician skilled in guitar, mouth organ, and synthesizer.
Served as an instructor at the Commando Wing, Belgaum.
Family
Parents: rajendra prasad Sharma and Sushila Sharma.
Elder brother: Madhur Sharma.
Wife: Major Rishima Sharma, also an army officer.
Fondly called “Chintu” at home.
Awards
Awarded the ashok Chakra (2009) posthumously for unmatched bravery and supreme sacrifice.
