Rash drivers in Hyderabad will from now onwards find it difficult to commit traffic violations as a Rs.110 crores worth Intelligence Traffic Management System (ITMS) is been organized to detect signal jumping and speeding. The new idea will be executed at Hyderabad and Cyberabad Commissionerate.
Currently many motorists get away with speeding despite repeated offences due to the unavailability of automated system. Larsen and Toubro (L&T) was awarded the ITMS wherein the speed of the vehicle will be automatically calculated by checking the time taken by the vehicle at different stretches by using cameras which are embedded with censors.
The DCP AV. Ranganath has told that the Supreme Court will help traffic police to nab the offenders. Currently the Hyderabad police are implementing guidelines by Supreme Court on road safety, and anyone who is committing three different violations in any combinations will face suspension of license.
The speedsters are alerted about drives by traffic police from their peers and hence they manage to escape. These drives are conducted occasionally by giving the racers enough time to treat city roads as racing tracks. In a recent case the Union Minister of Science and Technology’s son Sai Karthick was caught for over speeding and his license will be cancelled when he is caught in two more traffic violations.
