Accordingly YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy reaffirmed his commitment to the Jalayagnam project started by his father late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Meanwhile on World Water Day, the YSRCP president took to twitter to make his Jalayagnam promise and in his tweet, YS Jagan said that he would complete all the pending projects including Polavaram.
Previously the AP leader of Opposition addressed a massive public meeting in Pulivendula before filing his nominations for the Pulivendula Assembly seat. Furthermore it's worth mentioning that Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, the visionary leader had proposed a workable plan called Jalayagnam project. Reportedly the water management program implemented by YSR to bring about 82 lakh acres of land under irrigation and YSR was a soft-hearted person who empathized with the underprivileged and constantly came up with brilliant innovative schemes to benefit them.
Moreover he knew that the agriculture sector was the backbone of Indian economy. Hence Jalayagnam was a step in the right direction with a number of irrigation projects by construction of reservoirs and lift irrigation systems for lifting water from major rivers, particularly from Godavari, to provide immediate irrigation benefits. The project helped Andhra Pradesh make significant progress in sustainable agriculture by making wastelands cultivable.
