Vijayawada East alias Patamata assembly constituency is the key segment that impact on winning chances of Vijayawada MP. 70% of the voters from same community (Kamma) exist in this segment. Urban and educated voters there in this segment.
Before the CBN padayatra stepped into Krishna District Kesineni Travels Nani joined in TDP. He spends the money for CBN padayatra that takes place in all 5 segments cover under Vijayawada MP. Informally CBN send signals to the cadre and gave personal assurance to Nani on Vijayawada MP Segment. No dissidence arises at that time. Finally, CBN calls him and took serious class to Gadde and order him to contest from Vijayawada East or else Party decides another candidate for Vijayawada East. He convinced later and agreed to contest from the East. TDP cadre is also happy for this settlement. Now its turn of Congress, Devineni Nehru who lost the battle to Yelamanchili Ravi (PRP) in 2009 with margin of just 190 votes is again ready to try his luck in the same segment. PRP merge with Congress. Ravi is enjoying the status of Congress MLA. Chiru assures Ravi on Vijayawad East ticket for 2014 elections also. This makes fury to Nehru. Both Ravi and Nehru start ground work in this segment for getting the Congress Ticket. Yelamanchili and Devineni families have arch rivals in Vijayawada city. Ravi father Nageswara Rao won against Nehru one time as TDP candidate and lost 3 times as Congress nominee. Vangaveeti Radha Krishna is likely to become YSRCP candidate from Vijayawada East. Both leaders and their groups have trying to gain for upper hand to get Congress Ticket.
Vangaveeti (PRP) lost his election opposite Malladi Vishnu (Congress) at Vijayawada Central in 2009 elections. Vangaveeti and Malladi played cat and mouse game for two years on their political existence. At one time Malladi leaves the Congress and join with Jagan side and Radha Krishna waiting that moment to rejoin in Congress. But Vishnu was not interested to join in YSRCP, Radha joins in YSRCP. The reason behind Vangaveeti’s change the segment is that Krishna Lanka comes under Vijayawada East where Vangaveeti has some ground to gather his community votes (Kapu). On whole, Vijayawada East attracts the state and keen fight ahead among all top three parties.
