The TRS boss K Chandrasekhar Rao is all smiles these days and the reason for that is the granting of Telangana state by Sonia Gandhi. This would ensure that he becomes a big force to reckon with in Telangana region and his family members will grow in power.
But there is also another angle to it. KCR has reportedly committed to Sonia that he would merge his TRS party into Congress if Telangana is given so if the merger happens TRS will become history. The political experts say this will prove costly for him.
Firstly, there is no longer a separate identity for all the TRS leaders and once they take Congress uniform they will have jumped into the big ocean. The other important aspect is the fence sitters who are eyeing KCR.
It is heard that many of the MLAs in TDP and Congress are waiting to join TRS but if the merger takes place then none of that is going to happen. Should KCR really go ahead with the merger or should he stay back and grow as an independent power in Telangana, he must decide.
