West bengal governor jagdeep dhankhar said on tuesday that prime minister narendra modi called him and expressed "serious anguish and concern" about the state's alarmingly worsening law and order situation following the conclusion of the assembly elections.

I am deeply concerned about the continued violence, vandalism, arson, looting, and killings in india, as reported by @PMOIndia. Concerned individuals must go into overdrive to restore order "Dhankhar retweeted.

The West bengal governor directed the police and the kolkata Commissioner to put an end to "senseless political violence, vandalism, arson, killings, and intimidation.

Bharathiya Janatha party leader Swapan Dasgupta has also asked the Chief Justice of the calcutta high court to take suo moto action and order the administration to halt the wave of political recriminations in West bengal following the assembly elections. On monday, there was violence in Sitalkuchi, Cooch Behar. In Nandigram, the bjp party office was vandalized.

Unknown miscreants attacked journalists in Haldia on sunday evening. In the recently concluded West bengal assembly elections, mamata Banerjee's TMC won 213 seats. In the 294-seat state assembly, the bjp received 77 votes. elections for two Murshidabad seats, however, have been postponed due to the death of candidates as a result of Covid.
