A gazette notification was issued by the ap government last week to bring in ap Brahmin Welfare Corporation under backward classes Welfare Department. The notification has sparked controversy. The Brahmin groups strongly protested move as to why they are clubbing them with OBCs.
Till date the Brahmin welfare corporation was under the purview of the Revenue (Endowments) department.
The gazette notification has said that necessary amendments will be made in the second schedule of the ap government business Rules, 2018. The government officials are saying that the decision was taken to improve economically weaker sections and corporations in the bc welfare department.
But the move was not welcomed by the Brahmin community. Former chairman of ap Brahmin Welfare Corporation Vemuri Ananda surya was atrocious. He said that it shows how much hatred Jagan’s government had towards Brahmin community.
People are stating that they are insulting the Brahmin community. And attempts are being made to bring in differences between both the communities, i.e., Brahmins and OBCs.
He warned of state-wide agitation by Brahmins, if the government does not withdraw the gazette notification. But a senior Brahmin leader from YSRCP has said that the move was to ensure that the Brahmin community also receives adequate funds, and that will happen under the bc Welfare Department.
