New labor law by Modi government for overtime?


The Modi government has been preparing a draft of the code of the new labor law, which is going to bring many new facilities for the workers. There are reports that this new labor code can be executed by the month of April, before implementing it, the Modi government is working on its specifics of rules so that after implementation there will be no problem and people get more facilities.


Wage Code Act 2019:

If this Wage Code Act 2019 brought by the Modi government gets implemented, then it will completely change the salary structure of the employees. The 'Take home Salary' of the employees will decrease because due to the increase in Basic Pay, the PF of the employees will be deducted more i.e. their future will be more secure.

Not only this, along with PF, the contribution in gratuity will also increase. That is, the take-home salary will decrease but the employee will get more amount on retirement. The new wage code will also apply to the employees of the unorganized sector. At the same time, the rules related to salary and bonus will change and there will be equality in the salary of employees working in every industry and sector.

4 new wage codes:

The first code – Code on Wages, second – Industrial Relations Code, third – Occupational Safety and health (OSH) and the fourth and last code is Social Security Code.


Overtime: In the draft of this new law, there is a provision to include extra work between 15 and 30 minutes in overtime by counting 30 minutes. There is a provision in the rules of the draft that no employee can be made to work continuously for more than 5 hours. It will be mandatory to give him a break of 30 minutes after every five hours.
