Earlier, on february 4th, 2022, the chennai High court had ordered the closure of bars operating in Tasmac stores. Accordingly, the chennai High court has ordered the closure of bars operating in those shops. Some of the bar licenses in Tasmac stores from 2019-2021 had filed a petition in the chennai High court seeking an extension of their bar license. The petition stated that Tasmac stores were inactive for several days due to the Corona curfew and therefore did not receive adequate revenue. Therefore, their license should be extended.
Also, Tasmac stores are licensed to sell liquor only. They were not allowed to set up bars to drink alcohol in those places. Those bars will have drinkers going to public places after drinking alcohol. So it turns out to be a very disturbing process for the public. So Tasmac stores should close these bars immediately.

The chennai High court has said that bars that are already licensed must be closed within six months. The madras Prevention Act of 1937 was passed. It banned alcohol consumption to prevent problems in the community caused by alcoholics. india has not banned alcohol consumption since independence. It is noteworthy that the law instead imposes restrictions on the sale and production of liquor.
