The hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is working quickly to complete the Mehdipatnam skywalk, which will cost Rs 32.97 crore. Following KT Rama Rao's recent meeting with Rajnath Singh, minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD), the construction of this pedestrian-friendly facility, which had been slowed by problems with land acquisition, is now moving forward, according to hmda officials.

Due to a delay in securing the Centre's site, construction of the pedestrian facility was hampered. In order to assist the building of public infrastructure, including the purchase of half an acre for the creation of a skywalk at Mehidipatnam, the MA&UD minister has requested that the Centre accelerate the transfer of approximately 160 acres of defence lands to the telangana government.

"The project will be finished in six months after the land purchase is made. The works that were proceeding slowly earlier also sped up after the minister met with General Officer Commanding of Dakshin Bharat Area A Arun, according to an hmda official. Numerous people would benefit greatly from the skywalk once it is finished by allowing safe pedestrian movement without having to fight their way through traffic. The skywalk borders the PV narasimha Rao Motorway, with commercial structures on one side and Defence land on the other.
