bengal panchayat elections 2023: 18 people killed in election..!?

  There was violence before the three-tier panchayat elections in West Bengal. The voting day was not good either. There were incidents of booth capturing and vandalism in many districts. The ballot box was looted. The polling booth was set on fire. 18 people died from friday night to saturday in the panchayat election violence. A war of words has started between the trinamool congress and the bjp over the incidents of violence. The bjp called it a murder of democracy and demanded re-polling at many booths. The congress has also criticized the trinamool congress for the violence.

10 major points related to violence in panchayat elections

1- 18 people died in election violence. Among those killed were 10 workers of TMC, three each of bjp and congress, and two of CPI(M). A ballot box was vandalized at a booth in Dinhata, Cooch Behar district. Rioters set ballots on fire. A ballot box was burnt at another booth in the Barnachina area.

2- cpi (M) State Secretary Mohammad Salim shared a video of open ballot boxes lying on the ground. He tweeted that the ballot box was broken at a booth in Diamond Harbor and the ballots were thrown on the ground.

3- In Murshidabad district miscreants set fire to a police vehicle. police personnel came on receiving information about the disturbance. The policemen retreated after seeing the angry crowd.

4- Union minister Anurag Thakur said about the violence in the panchayat elections that elections in bengal under mamata Banerjee's rule cannot be held without killings and anarchy. mamata banerjee sees killings as a guarantee of power. The bomb culture of bengal is putting india and its democracy to shame across the world.

West bengal State congress President Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary "congratulated" mamata banerjee for winning the panchayat elections. He said, "Congratulations, sister, you have won the panchayat election."

5- trinamool congress questioned the role of central forces. Regarding the killing of TMC workers, minister Shashi Panja in Mamata's government said, "Shocking incidents have been unfolding since friday night. bjp, cpi (M), and congress are in collusion."

6- bjp leader Suvendu Adhikari demanded that President's rule be imposed in Bengal. He said, "Free and fair elections under state administration are a mirage. It is possible only when the elections are under President's rule or Article 355."

7- Suvendu Adhikari demanded the imposition of Section 144 in violence-affected areas. He said that election violence should be investigated by cbi and NIA. CAPF should have been deployed at all the booths. The state government should give compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the families of those who died in the violence.

8- bengal State election Commissioner (SEC) rajeev Sinha said that most complaints of incidents of violence during polling came from North 24 Pargana, South 24 Pargana, and Murshidabad districts. 1,300 complaints received from Barasat. These included cases of miscreants running away with ballot boxes. These incidents will be thoroughly investigated. There will be re-voting at those booths where the most violence took place.

9-West bengal governor CV anand Bose visited various areas of North 24 Pargana district. He met people affected by violence. The governor said that the people stopped my convoy and told them that the incidents of violence are happening and the vote is being stopped. The election should be won by ballot and not by a bullet.

10- Voting started at 7 am on saturday and went on till 5 pm on 73,887 seats in the rural areas of Bengal. 5.67 crore people decided the fate of around 2.06 lakh candidates.
