Extend shakti Yojana to Private Buses..!?

Extend the shakti scheme implemented in the state to private buses. We also provide service to the government scheme. The shakti Yojana (free travel on transport buses for women) which was implemented as the first guarantee soon after the congress government came to power in karnataka, has been a huge setback for private buses. Therefore, the president of the Federation of Private bus Owners, suresh Naik, has urged the government that all private buses should also be brought under the purview of shakti Yojana. Speaking to the media after a meeting with auto, taxi, maxi cab, and private bus owners led by Transport minister Ramalingareddy in Bengaluru, President of Private bus Owners Federation suresh Naik said, implement shakti Yojana in all private buses in the state. This will reduce the losses incurred by private buses. Distribute smart cards to all women as soon as possible. Later, we will facilitate free travel for women who show smart cards. He informed me that it has been requested that the government should bear their travel expenses later.

Use private buses where there is no KSRTC bus: Further, after the implementation of shakti Yojana in the state, the privately owned public transport buses are incurring huge losses. Therefore, it was demanded in the meeting to extend shakti Yojana to private buses. Many KSRTC buses, including coastal ones, are out of service. Therefore, we have insisted to extend this to private buses. Otherwise, private buses will have to be closed within a year. He said that it has been demanded to include private buses in the shakti Yojana.

Fraud does not happen with smart cards: Now if the state government distributes smart cards to all women, there will be no fraud by the owners of private buses. Therefore, women should be allowed to travel in private buses with smart cards. shakti Yojana should also apply to private transport. If the government does not come to our rescue, we will shut down private transport in the next year. Many districts of the state do not have a government KSRTS bus system. He said that instead of buying KSRTC buses, they have requested the minister to give us shakti Yojana and we will provide the service.

Travel by 25 crore women: There has been an increase in the number of women traveling after the implementation of the shakti Yojana in the state. This scheme has provided tremendous benefits to women, school, and college students. From june 11 to July 22 when the shakti Yojana was implemented, a total of 25 crore women traveled in karnataka State Road Transport Corporation buses. Through this, shakti Yojana is being well utilized by women. In such a situation, the owners of autos, taxis, maxi cabs, and private buses have called for a strike against the shakti Yojana.
