On Thursday, the US-based language-learning software Duolingo unveiled a brand-new telugu to english language course on its website. telugu, the fourth most popular language in india, has been added to the list of indian languages offered on the app, along with the popular english programmes previously offered for bengali and hindi users, the firm said.

"Given the success of our courses for hindi and bengali speakers, we aspire to empower telugu speakers with our new course, enabling effective communication and fostering opportunities that open doors to a world of possibilities," said Karandeep Singh Kapany, Country Marketing Manager for Duolingo India. telugu is one of the top 20 most spoken languages in the world, with around 96 million speakers.

The firm stated that its newest service is created to give telugu speakers a free and entertaining platform to learn English. This is in recognition of the expanding presence and importance of telugu speakers not just in india but even outside national lines. According to a recent poll by Duolingo and YouGov, 90% of telugu speakers feel that learning english is crucial for improving employment opportunities and gaining access to better educational resources.

Additionally, 81 percent of the respondents indicated that being fluent in english may increase involvement in English-speaking societies and boost self-confidence. india ranks as the second-fastest-growing market among the top ten markets for Duolingo in terms of daily active users (DAUs), making it the fifth-largest market overall. hindi, French, Korean, and Spanish are some of the other popular languages that indians are learning on the site in addition to English.
