Government schools in telangana will soon abandon their manual attendance systems as the school education Department prepares to use a facial recognition system based on artificial intelligence to track pupils' attendance. By doing away with the traditional practice of noting attendance in registers, it is an Android mobile application that helps with documenting attendance in the classroom. By the end of september, the department intends to implement this new system in the public schools.

"As we are all aware, students, academicians, and staff management are critical components in the school education system, The education Department has decided to adopt the most recent technological advancements to carry out attendance by addressing the needs and challenges of the current processes," said Ramesh, Additional State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha. To deploy a facial recognition attendance management system, the Department has contracted with M/s RNIT Solutions and services Limited.

Students' face data will be captured once this program is opened, and those details, together with the student's credentials, will be stored in the application. A teacher must take a picture of the complete classroom in order to take attendance. The face information of the kids will instantly synchronize with the details contained in the program, and attendance will be recorded. He noted that the implementation of this new system will affect 26 lakh kids who are enrolled in 26,000 institutions, including government and local body schools, model schools, Kasturba gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, and telangana Residential Educational Institutions.

"The agency will first adopt a facial recognition attendance system for pupils attending government schools before expanding it to include instructors. According to a senior officer with the education Department, biometric attendance is now being used for teachers working in 15 districts.
