Naam Tamilar party chief coordinator Seeman has slammed the filing of a case against the people who protested against the new airport project at Parantur as the height of autocracy. In a statement issued by the chief coordinator of Naam Tamilar party, Seeman, "The fact that the DMK government has registered a case under three sections against 138 people of the area who fought against the construction of a new international airport in Barandur is strongly condemned. It is tyranny to condemn and threaten the people who are fighting for the fundamental right of democracy, such as lawsuits and arrests, against the people who have begun to carry out studies for the construction of an airport without respecting the continuous demands of the people. When the people are coming against the plans of destruction against the land and the people, the DMK, which pretended to stand with the people when it was an opposition party, after coming to power, is the Dravida model a name for strangling the throat of the freedom of expression of the same people? Is this the social justice that makes 'everything available'? The DMK government threatens the farmers who refuse to hand over their lands, arrests and imprisons them with the police so that they cannot come out, it is the height of autocracy. If these repressions continue, the people of the region will teach the DMK government ruling tamil Nadu and the bjp government ruling the Union of india a lesson in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Therefore, on behalf of the Naam tamil party, I urge the DMK government to stop arresting the people who refused to hand over their lands and are fighting against the new Paranthur airport, and to immediately withdraw the cases filed against them. Also, I request the DMK government to stop supporting the construction of a new airport in Parantur by destroying agricultural lands, water bodies and people's residences,” he said.
