For its dedication to carbon control, GMR hyderabad international airport Ltd (GHIAL) has received the highest distinction. The airport has received Airports Council international (ACI) Level 4 Transition accreditation, demonstrating its adherence to international climate goals. The industry standard for evaluating an airport's efforts to minimize carbon emissions is determined by the airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program, which ACI europe launched in 2009. The highest level in this program is Level 4 Transition, which GHIAL has achieved.

The airport is committed to environmental responsibility, according to CEO pradeep Panicker, and uses renewable energy while aiming for zero waste and zero discharge. The airport has set lofty goals to produce zero carbon emissions and has invested in environmentally friendly technology and resources to help make the world a cleaner place. ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle east (ACI APAC & MID) director General Stefano Baronci complimented GHIAL for its innovation in effective carbon management and dedication to a more sustainable future. He complimented the airport's initiatives to lessen the effects of climate change and improve climate resilience.

The airport intends to keep moving towards net-zero carbon emissions using renewable energy, electric cars, and sustainable aviation fuels, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action. Numerous awards, including the "National Energy leader Award," "Excellence-Gold Award," "Excellence Award," and "Special Award" at the telangana State Energy Conservation Awards, as well as the "Certificate of Merit" from BEE for receiving the highest National Energy Conservation Award score, attest to the airport's efforts. In order to promote excellence in the aviation sector, ACI works in partnership with governments, regional members, and international organisations like ICAO to shape airport standards around the globe.
