Before the lok sabha elections, Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj party has suffered a major political setback in Uttar Pradesh. BSP mp from Ambedkar nagar lok sabha seat Ritesh Pandey has joined bjp on Sunday. After joining bjp, Ritesh Pandey has said that he is impressed by the leadership of prime minister Narendra Modi.

Ritesh Pandey, 42, who has a bachelor's degree in international Business Management from the european school London, comes from a political family. His father Rakesh Pandey was elected on Samajwadi party ticket from Jalalpur assembly constituency of Ambedkarnagar district in the 2022 elections of Uttar Pradesh Assembly. Before this, Rakesh Pandey was the mp of Ambedkar nagar from 2009 to 2014.

Won the election by defeating the minister

Ritesh Pandey had defeated senior bharatiya janata party leader and then minister in the state government Mukut Bihari Verma in the 2019 lok sabha elections. Before this, Ritesh Pandey was elected as BSP mla from Jalalpur in the 2017 assembly elections. BSP chief had made Ritesh Pandey the leader of the lok sabha Parliamentary Party.

In the 2019 lok sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, BSP contested the elections along with SP and won 10 out of 80 seats in the state. BSP suspended its amroha mp Danish ali from the party last December. Ghazipur mp Afzal Ansari has been declared by Samajwadi party as its candidate for the lok sabha elections to be held in 2024, while Jaunpur mp Shyam Singh Yadav is said to be close to Congress.
