According to sources Md. ram Beniwal resigned from the Rashtriya Loktantrik party (RLP) and joined the congress on saturday (16 March). He joined congress in the presence of State congress President Govind Singh Dotasara at the party headquarters. Umedaram has contested the assembly elections twice from Baytu constituency of Barmer as an RLP candidate. State congress President Govind Singh Dotasara said, "Ummedaram Beniwal is a mass leader. He has a large number of supporters. He comes from the farming community and is connected to his roots. He said, "I am confident that with your arrival the congress party will be strengthened. The issues of farmers, Dalits and weaker sections will be strengthened."
Perhaps party sources said that in the elections held in december 2023, Umedaram Beniwal had lost to congress MLA Harish Chaudhary by only 910 votes from the Baytu assembly seat. With Umedaram joining congress, the political equations of Barmer district will change. Umedaram was the main face of Hanuman Beniwal's party RLP in Barmer. congress can give him lok sabha ticket from Barmer.
Earlier, congress was planning to form an alliance with RLP. However, Harish Chaudhary and many leaders protested in Barmer against the alliance with RLP. Now instead of forming an alliance with RLP in Barmer, congress has included its potential lok sabha candidate in Congress.
