In this meeting, along with discussion of candidates in kangra and hamirpur parliamentary constituencies, candidates for the by-elections of six assembly constituencies are also to be discussed. In the 2022 assembly elections, Rajinder Rana defeated Captain Ranjit Singh Rana (retd). On february 27, Rajinder Rana first voted against Dr. abhishek Manu Singhvi, the official candidate of congress in the rajya sabha elections. Along with him, five other congress MLAs and three independent MLAs also spoiled the game of congress by voting in favor of the bjp candidate. On february 28, during the passing of the budget, his membership was lost due to his not being present in the assembly proceedings despite the whip being issued. In this regard, the Chief Whip of the congress Legislative party and Parliamentary Affairs minister in the government, harsh vardhan Chauhan had given a complaint to the assembly Speaker kuldeep Singh Pathania. All these congress MLAs challenged this entire matter in the supreme court but later took membership in the bjp and withdrew their petition from the supreme Court.
