In CBSE schools, children will be taught their mother tongue or the language spoken in their area in the initial classes like pre-primary and primary classes.Now CBSE has geared up to teach children their mother tongue. In CBSE schools, children will be taught their mother tongue or the language spoken in their area in the initial classes like pre-primary and primary classes. CBSE believes that with this children will be able to understand and read their syllabus in a better way.

Under the National education Policy 2020 and National Curriculum Framework 2022, CBSE has made it mandatory for the learning material to be taught in the mother tongue of the students or the language spoken in their region. This study material has been named language Primer.

According to NEP 2020, if children are taught in the language they already know, then they can understand better. For this, the National Council for education Research and Training (NCERT) and the indian Institute of Languages have together created a collection of 52 books. According to CBSE, books have been ready for Bhutia, Bodo, Garo, Khandeshi, Kinnauri, Kuki, Manipuri, Nepali, Sherpa and Tulu languages. In these books, along with numbers and alphabets, things like pronunciation of words, meaning of words, identification of alphabets have also been taken care of.It has also been found in many researches that if we study in our mother tongue, our brain develops better, we become adept at speaking and also do better in school. In this way, people are appreciating this step of CBSE.
