Heavy rain in Coimbatore; Motorists suffer due to overflowing rainwater on the road

 

Coimbatore and surrounding areas were flooded with heavy rain for more than 3 hours. Due to this, motorists suffered a lot.


While the summer heat has subsided and the summer rains have started in tamil Nadu, it is raining continuously in various districts. Especially in coimbatore district, it is raining for about an hour to 2 hours per day and it is raining in a few places. In this situation, the chennai Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of heavy rain in the districts of coimbatore and Nilgiris adjacent to the Western Ghats.


In this situation, the sky was cloudy in the suburbs of coimbatore such as Annur, Ellapalayam, Kuppepalayam, Sarkar Chamakulam and other places since this morning. In the afternoon it rained heavily for more than 3 hours. Due to this, the flood water overflowed the roads.


Due to this, motorists suffered a lot. Traffic on the Ellapalayam-Periyanayakanpalayam road has been completely cut off as the footbridge across a stream in Kuppepalayam area has been submerged.


Revenue officials are keeping a close watch as there are elements of possible heavy rains to continue. It is noted that the National Disaster Response Force has camped in Mettupalayam area for security and rescue operations following the heavy rain warning.
