Due to this 20 percent difference, the company started finding it expensive to make iPhones in china and the company started shifting its manufacturing base here, looking at india as an option. Focusing on many things like strong supply chain, low labor cost, government schemes, the company found it more economical to make iPhones in India.
india may face challenges
Earlier, apple CEO Tim Cook has also clearly said that most of the iPhones sold in the US during the june quarter will be made in India. However, experts believe that India's manufacturing capacity is growing rapidly. It is unlikely that it will be possible for india to meet the demand of about 2 crore iPhones every quarter in the US before 2026.
