If you have recently received a message on your mobile that says "Dear consumer, your water connection will be disconnected at 9:30 pm tonight", then be careful. This message is not from delhi Jal Board, but is a new trick of cyber thugs. delhi police and Jal Board have warned people that such messages are completely fake and their only purpose is to cheat.
According to the police, thugs are now deceiving people by creating exact copies of the Jal Board's website and mobile app. These messages are being sent in hindi or english through SMS, whatsapp or email. It is written in it that the water bill has not been updated and if immediate action is not taken, the connection will be disconnected.
A mobile number is also given with this message, on calling on which, the caller introduces himself as an officer of the Jal Board. He threatens the consumer that if online payment is not made immediately, the water supply will be stopped. If a consumer, out of fear, makes the payment through the link provided by the caller, he directly becomes a victim of cyber thugs.

delhi Police's appeal
Such threatening messages are not sent by the Water Board or any government institution. delhi police appealed to be cautious of such messages and links and said that the officer of the water board company or the government department does not ask people to update any software in their mobile. If someone asks you for bank details on any pretext, do not give it to them at all. A little carelessness can empty your bank account. So be cautious of these tricks of fraudsters and alert others as well. Immediately report suspicious activities to the cyber crime cell or the nearest police station.
