RJD mp Manoj Jha on monday said that the only factor in deciding on seat sharing in the upcoming bihar assembly elections will be the possibility of victory. He hoped that the talks on this will be completed in the coming days. bihar is due to go to polls later this year and the opposition grand alliance is trying to defeat the ruling JDU-BJP-led national democratic alliance (NDA).

What did the RJD spokesperson say on Sanjay Kumar Jha?

The grand alliance includes Lalu Prasad-led RJD, congress and Left parties. Addressing a press conference, Jha also attacked JDU working president Sanjay Kumar Jha as his two daughters have been appointed as 'Group A panel advocates' in connection with the central government's case in the supreme Court. The RJD leader alleged that this is an example of nepotism. "The pressure of the alliance is working on Modiji. The government should continue. Isn't this taking away the rights of a large section? Were there no better, deserving candidates? Were there no candidates from backward, Dalit, extremely backward groups? Or were these seats reserved for the alliance?" he said. "This is nepotism," he said.

There was no response from the JD(U) leader, who is a rajya sabha mp, to the allegations. Manoj Jha said there was a common understanding among the opposition alliance parties that they would contest each seat as a 'mahagathbandhan'. When asked about the ongoing talks among alliance partners, Jha said, "It is important to decide that winnability will be the only factor. It should be a common decision (and) no one should try to expand their scope."

"Whoever is in a position to win should get the ticket," he said. The RJD spokesperson said caste and social equations should also be kept in mind while deciding tickets. He said, "The social equation of castes and social groups in every district should be kept in mind. Discussions will be completed in one and a half months." Manoj Jha said that increasing the reach of all the parties involved in the Mahagathbandhan will increase the reach of the alliance. Will there be a common manifesto of the alliance? On this question, he said that both the parties have similar views on many issues and he gave the example of 'Mai Behan Maan Yojana', which promises to give Rs 2,500 to women from economically weaker backgrounds, social security pension and employment generation.
