US President donald trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are going to meet at an airbase in Alaska, which is being watched by the whole world, including Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is hoping for an end to the ongoing war with Russia. Zelensky posted on X just before the meeting of trump and Putin saying that a lot is at stake in the meeting to be held in Alaska. He said that this summit could affect european security and the direction of the war in Ukraine.
Zelensky held a meeting with security officials
Zelensky said that he has called a meeting of security officials in Kiev, in which the current situation of the war was discussed. He said, "We are countering the efforts of the Russian army to gain a foothold and are putting pressure to remove them from the places they have occupied. He said, "In truth, a lot is at stake. The main thing is that this meeting opens a real path towards a just peace and there is a concrete discussion between russia, ukraine, America. He stressed on taking concrete steps to end the war. He said, "The time has come to end the war and for this russia should take the necessary steps. We are counting on America."
Trump cannot provide security to ukraine in the form of NATO
Zelensky wants a ceasefire as soon as possible and ukraine should be assured of security. Just before going to Alaska, trump said that there is a possibility that America can give security guarantees to ukraine along with european countries, but this cannot be done in the form of NATO. He said that the decision to give land to russia under the peace agreement will have to be taken by the Ukrainians. trump said, "I have not come to negotiate for Ukraine. I have come to bring them to the negotiating table."
