Thanjavur/Trichy, march 4, 2026: A large number of supporters and party workers gathered along the Trichy–Tanjavur national highway on wednesday as actor-politician Vijay was travelling by road to attend a political meeting in the thanjavur district. The crowd crowded both sides of the highway, and, at one point near Ayyasamipatti, many cadres surrounded Vijay’s vehicle, prompting the convoy to slow down as he greeted them with a wave.
Vijay is the leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) political outfit. He arrived in Trichy from chennai by a private flight to participate in a large gathering of party functionaries and supporters scheduled for later in the day near Sengipatti Village. The meeting was organized to address TVK cadres from eight assembly constituencies in the district and was granted police permission with specific safety conditions, including entry passes.
As Vijay’s campaign vehicle made its way toward the venue, supporters lined key stretches of the Trichy–Tanjavur road to catch a glimpse of him despite requests by party organizers not to trail the vehicle on the highway. Near the Dhuvakkudi toll plaza area, scores of cadre members surrounded the car, slowing it down and creating a congested situation on the road. Vijay responded by acknowledging the crowd with hand gestures while the police managed security arrangements alongside the gathering.
The event reflects heightened political mobilization in tamil Nadu as the state gears up for the 2026 Legislative assembly elections, with Vijay and the TVK actively engging supporters through local rallies and road interactions.
