Jagadeesan breaks Virat Kohli's record!!!
If cricket fans are asked what is going on now, they may say that the India-New Zealand series is going on or Australia's dominance is going on against world champion England, but very few fans would know that Narayan Jagadeesan's bat is also working. His bat is not just running but is making records upon records.
On 20 November, Narayan Jagadeesan broke a 20-year-old record by scoring a century against Arunachal Pradesh at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. This was Narayan Jagadeesan's fifth consecutive century in the vijay hazare Trophy. He has become the only batsman in the world to do so. This is also Jagadeesan's biggest innings in List A.
Earlier in the year 2002 in List A cricket itself, Alistair Brown scored an inning of 268 against Glamorgan. Jagadeesan scored 277, which became the best score in all List A cricket. Jagadeesan also became the first batsman to score centuries in five consecutive innings in men's List A cricket. Three batsmen had previously amassed four straight hundreds. Alviro Petersen in 2015–16, Devdutt Padikkal in 2020–21, and Kumar Sangakkara in 2014–15. Against Arunachal, Jagadeesan scored 277 runs in just 141 balls at a strike rate of almost 200, which included 25 fours and 15 sixes. He completed his double century in just 114 balls. This is also the joint fastest double century in men's List A cricket.
Earlier, Australia's Travis Head scored a double century in 114 balls against Queensland in the Marsh One-Day Cup last year. Sachin Tendulkar's highest score in List A cricket is 200 runs. Left kohli behind too, Jagadeesan has scored 5 centuries in the current vijay hazare Trophy. Which is the highest number of centuries scored by any batsman in any edition of this competition. virat kohli scored four centuries each in 2008-09, Devdutt Padikkal in 2020-21, prithvi shaw in 2020-21 and Ruturaj Gaikwad in 2021-22. Jagadeesan has scored 799 runs in this tournament, which is the second most by a batsman in a single edition of the vijay hazare Trophy. In the year 2020-21 season, prithvi shaw created history by scoring 827 runs.
