Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Jayanti - let's know its history...


On the full moon day of Falguna, known as Phalguna Purnima, people celebrate Shri chaitanya Jayanti, which honors chaitanya Mahaprabhu's birth anniversary. Another name for this celebration is gaura Purnima. Several regions of india commemorate chaitanya Jayanti, including Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Gauranga is the common term used to refer to Sri chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Sri chaitanya Mahaprabhu was a monk who worked as a social reformer in eastern india during the sixteenth century. He is regarded as an avatar of Lord krishna by Gaudiya Vaishnavism adherents. During his lifetime, he popularized the chanting of the Hare krishna maha-mantra and dedicated his adoration to Lord krishna and Radha. Because he was born beneath a neem tree, Chaitanyha Mahaprabhu is also known by the name Nimai.

History of chaitanya Mahaprabhu Jayanti in 2024

Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the founder of Gaudiya Vaishnavism and a well-known spiritual teacher, lived from 1486 to 1534 A.D. The adherents of chaitanya Mahaprabhu are known as Gaudiya Vaishnava(s). Based on the Hindu lunar calendar, chaitanya Mahaprabhu was born on Phalguna purnima in the year 1542 of vikram Samvat.

As a result, his followers commemorate Phalguna purnima as both the birth anniversary of chaitanya Mahaprabhu and gaura Purnima. By the Julian calendar, chaitanya Mahaprabhu was born on february 18, 1486 A.D. When he was born, the Gregorian calendar had not yet been invented. In the proleptic Gregorian calendar, Saturday, february 27, 1486 A.D., is when chaitanya Mahaprabhu was born.
