Jailed for whatsapp chat... Difficult to release in Gulf?

Four indians have been jailed in saudi arabia after the kisses shared by four friends for pastime were shared on whatsapp and then went viral on social media. Even after completion of their sentence, their release from prison is delayed. The reason is that they incite communal tensions.

Three expatriates (under 30 years old) working in an organization in Abha, saudi arabia made comments that created communal tension. The three people who made the comments were arrested by the Saudi Arabian police. The court sentenced them to 5 months and 5 days imprisonment and fined one thousand riyals.

Even though these four have completed their jail term in last December, they have been languishing in jail since then due to lack of money to pay the fine. None of their relatives came forward to pay the fine.

Prison officials reported their plight to higher authorities without money to pay the fine. The way for the release of the expatriates has been paved with the recent arrangement to cover the fine money from the government exchequer. Efforts are being made to get them on an indian plane after their release from jail.
