Disney+ is moving forward with a new Daredevil series now that the character is officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however it's unclear whether charlie Cox will return. With the eponymous Netflix show conceived by Drew Goddard, Cox first brought the character of blind lawyer Matt Murdock and vigilante Daredevil to life. The Daredevil series would help establish a set of shows known colloquially as the Marvel Knights, which includes Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders, all of which had tenuous ties to the MCU.

Daredevil received acclaim from critics and audiences alike during its three-season run on Netflix, particularly for Cox's portrayal of the titular character, as well as Vincent D'Onofrio's portrayal of the villainous Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Jon Bernthal's portrayal of Frank Castle/The Punisher, and the overall character development. With the Netflix-Marvel Studios partnership set to expire in 2018, all MCU shows would be terminated, leaving their fates uncertain. With films like Spider-Man: No Way home and Hawkeye, Cox and D'Onofrio would eventually break into the major MCU, and now one of their futures is looking very bright.

Variety reports that Disney+ has begun development on a new Daredevil series, with Matt Corman and chris Ord of Covert Affairs scheduled to write and executive produce. The ordered series does not specify if charlie Cox will reprise his role from the Netflix series and Spider-Man: No Way home, and his return has yet to be confirmed. Marvel has yet to confirm the development of the Daredevil programme or Cox's role in the MCU.
