Mark Zuckerberg Announces Threads Rollout On Desktop With ‘Manipulated’ Photo. Here Are The Giveaways

Zuckerberg made a play at Kate Middleton's "manipulated" Mother's Day photo with one of his own. Of course, Zuck's photo has more giveaways than a cheap bollywood thriller.

Threads, the much-hyped microblogging platform from Mark Zuckerberberg’s Meta, is now on desktop. While Threads was earlier available for PC users via Web browsers, the app has finally got a dedicated app that you can download via the microsoft Store for Windows. At first glance, there is not much difference between the app version, the Web version, or the desktop version when it comes to overall user experience — and that’s not a bad thing either.

Zuck’s ‘Manipulated’ Photo

If you aren’t living under a rock, you must have heard of the huge uproar going on in the UK over a “manipulated” Mother’s Day photo of Kate Middleton doing the rounds. Now, Zuckerberg decided to have a go with his doctored photo.

He announced the rollout of Threads on a desktop with a photo of himself enjoying the app on a Windows PC.

However, upon close inspection, it’s easy to see that the photo is indeed quite old. The Windows XP wallpaper and the typically 2010s “multimedia” keyboard were a dead giveaway. Of course, a screenshot of the Threads app was doctored onto the PC screen.

Don't miss the vintage Palm Treo 600 QWERTY phone on the desk, placed just beside the iPod Nano MP3 player. Both these devices are out of production now.

And of course, the Meta founder looks quite younger in the photo. We see what you did there, Zuck.

Nadella’s ‘Excited’ Comment

Microsoft CEO satya Nadella shared his excitement on Zuckerberg’s Thread with this post:

How To Install Threads On Desktop

If you are using a Windows PC, simply head over to the microsoft Store, look up Threads, and click on the Install button.

Once downloaded, simply log in with your Threads ID or instagram account.

As of yet, Threads is yet to get a dedicated app on macOS. However, apple users can still access Threads via Web browsers.

Are Threads Different On Desktop And Mobile?

The simple answer is: No.

If you have used Threads on Android or iOS, you will find almost no difference in the Web or even the desktop version. Everything from the process of posting Threads to discovering new posts and creators remains more or less the same.

And as mentioned earlier, that is not a bad thing. It’s always better to have an easy-to-use interface that doesn’t differ much across platforms as users won’t face problems and would readily start using the apps without a hitch.
